Once the end of school hit . . . there just wasn't time.
I thought time and time again I should write. AND . . . by the time I would get into the office - the idea was gone or someone needed something else.
So, I am back now. I like telling my little stories. Some cannot be made up - this is my life. Others have a bit of a moral issue in them that I might be dealing with, a friend might be dealing with or just a message I want to send along.
I would love to hear from you!
Take care . . . .
This is my reality, told day by day, event by event! This reality is not what I had dreamed up. It isn't what I thought it would be. This reality is my life, overall it is pretty good and It Is What It Is!

And so . . . It Begins . . .

There we stood in a hallway of the lower school. The 4th graders spanned the staircase. This was their night. There were many stages to the night - somewhat like a progressive dinner. They had an art exhibit with snacks and beverages, a choir concert, and Mystery Theatre where the children dressed up as their chosen biography character, got together in a group of 4, created a skit involving their characters and we as the audience had to guess who they were. So many moving parts to this evening . . .

Choir Concert |
The choir teacher took these small voices and taught them how to sing, train their voice and play the recorder.
The Humanities teachers from the earliest of years have been building reading, comprehension and writing skilled that enabled these kids to create power point presentations on the smart board as part of their skit. Back drops, narrator insertions, sounds, music all while they act their scene out in front of parents and peers.

This is the beginning of the end. Truly this is the first true mile marker, if you will, on his journey to becoming a confident, independent young man.
The realization that he isn't a little boy anymore hit me.
I see him everyday. I don't notice he is getting taller . . . I don't notice he is maturing . . . I don't notice he isn't a little boy anymore . . . he isn't my baby!

I know there are wonderful . . . awesome . . . fantastic things to come for my young man. I am just the slightest bit sad the innocence of his youth is fading fast . . . and that at 10 years old he doesn't have much time left under my care.
I love who he is becoming and will make every effort to enjoy every day of the next 8 years . . . it will go all too fast . . .
and more tears . . .

I Failed Him . . .

I failed him . . . clearly I did! It is all my fault!
I have previously mentioned we were going to have Jake re-tested. We want to figure out if his testing results were a fluke or a trend.
We feel it was important for us to know - we would hate to set him up to fail by placing him in a very rigorous school, or cut him short - based on one test that we are not so sure was an accurate picture of his intelligence.
Therefore . . . last Saturday, while Goo, Mimi, Scoots and I were at the St. Patty's Day Parade, Jake was being retested.
The tester did a series of test. She used the Stanford Binet IQ test, a Kindergarten readiness test and a visual/vocabulary test.

Not Gonna Deny it . . . .I am sad!

Approximately two months ago I wrote about our youngest applying for private school. We got our answer today.
So, I am sitting here in my study, the lights are low, blinds open and it is raining outside. AND . . . I am sad. I am going to give myself the time to write this to be sad and then I am moving on. Enough of this . . .
See, he is in a great school - we have been happy with his school. We cannot argue with the success they have with their students. I highly recommend his school to families looking. We just wanted our boys at the same school - a 12 year school.

The Making of a Party . . . Teacher Appreciation
I love parties. I like attending them, but I really like hosting.
What I enjoy most about the party is the planning. I can plan, re-plan and then plan some more! I am VERY theme oriented - so in the planning I have the think up a theme, decor, invitations, wording, food, party favor and then the master plan - completed concept.
For me, the love of the party comes in all the detail work.
